Surgery day!

The day went great - given that we were at the hospital! We were admitted right away and they started surgery around 9:40. It lasted around an hour. Lora did well, but was a little apprehensive at first. They gave her the "I feel good drink" about 15 minutes before taking her to the OR. She was hilarious - giggling and telling jokes and being silly! THey wheeled her to surgery in a little red wagon and she was laughing the whole way. She was very agitated coming out of the anesthesia and they gave her some morphine to calm her. After sleeping that off she was ready to come home around 3pm. We got her settled on the couch and she does well for 4 hour time periods ....until the pain meds wear off. The cast is bright pink and goes from wrist to armpit! The other adventure today was taking our dog to the vet right after we got home from the hospital! He had a sore/bloody leg this AM and it turns out he was bit by a snake!! He is on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and pain meds. Our counter looks like a pharmacy!

We got to park in the "surgery patient parking" spot!
Lora was a little scared of the big hospital bed...until she realized the TV had cable! What a luxury!
After getting her "I feel good" drink, she was all smiles and giggles! The little red wagon was a hit with Lora...much better than a stretcher!Lora got to take one "treasure" with her and she picked her "rainbow bear" that she got for her birthday from Grandma B. Here she is resting after just coming back from recovery. The morphine finally settled her down. You can see the big IV taped on her right hand. That upset her a lot! When she woke up, she drank a little juice and ate some goldfish before convincing the RN to take the IV out. If you look closely you can see "NO" written on her left arm. That's to ensure they don't operate on the wrong arm! YIKES!
She fell back asleep again before we left. We are trying to keep the arm elevated, but this position doesn't look comfortable at all! The cast is so big compared to her little tiny arm!
Poor Marty has his own troubles. It is his right front paw that is hurt....same as Lora!
