Christmas Preparations

I love Christmas time. One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all the preparations. I love decorating the house and playing Christmas music non-stop. I love baking and searching for the perfect gift. I love wrapping each gift and putting it under the tree. I really love involving the kids in all the excitement. Some highlights of the past and present include:
-Tilles Park light show and driving through with hot chocolate
-Candy Cane lane - the lights are awesome, but they are also FREE
- Church musical - last year was Dickens and this year was It's a Wonderful Life. The big two kids performed in it.
-Seeing Santa - Lexi was so brave this year. Although she had a look of terror on her face, not one tear was shed!
-Making Christmas lists and a letter to Santa - the kids always write a letter and it's fun to see how their interests (and handwriting!) have changed each year!
-Advent Calendar - the kids love their Advent calendar so much that they fight over who gets to put the next "piece" up. This year we had THREE!
- Secret Santa - this year we delivered secret santa gifts to the single parents in our church (organized by our church). The kids thought it was hilarious to ring the doorbell and then drop the stocking and run!
-Food pantry - the past 3 years we have volunteered at the food pantry the few days before Christmas. With our travel plans this year we had to wait until the 29th, but still loved spending our time serving others.
-New ornaments - every year each kids gets a new ornament that signifies their personality. This year Lexi got a purple crown, Luke got a football, and Lora got a nutcracker. The name and year are always written on them and we have begun to get quite the collection.
- Lego nativity - the past two years Luke has built the most elaborate Lego nativity scene.

We continue to look forward to more traditions and memories every year and are so thankful for the friends and family who we get to share them with!
Waiting to see Santa
