Mother's Day...
I know Mother's Day is about being a mother. I love my kids so much and I love being a mom. But this Mother's Day it was all about how awesome my husband is.
He (said he ) had a strong urge to make me feel as special as possible. And he thoroughly succeeded!
After a late night at a baseball game the night before, he let me sleep in. When I kept hitting snooze, he shut off the alarm, told me to stay asleep, got the kids ready for church, and took them by himself. I slept until noon, something I don't think I've ever done. When I woke up, there were flowers on the table, heart shaped donuts on a plate, and signed cards from the kids. When he got home from church he made lunch for us all and we just hung out in the backyard relaxing all day. With both of our families out of town, we seldom spend a holiday "relaxing". We are usually driving across the state of Illinois in an attempt to spend as much time with extended family as possible. This Mother's Day was perfect: sitting on my deck, drinking iced tea, watching the kids play, and taking in the whole concept of "doing nothing". Bill topped off the perfect day by taking us our for Mexican (and the kids behaved PERFECTLY at the restaurant) and for FroYo (Frozen Yogurt).
I know the "unwritten rule" is to make Mom feel special on Mother's Day, but what I realized is how much my husband means to me. He made me feel loved, but he also took care of me. The security of knowing that he can handle everything, from feeding and dressing the kids to making meals, is such peace.
Bill and I often say to each other, "I wouldn't want to do life with anyone else". It's true. No one else can complete me the way he does or pick up the pieces when I drop them all. No one else can make me feel appreciated, yet do so much for me. Being a Mom is the best thing that ever happened to me, but only because I get to share it with the best MAN that ever happened to me.
My gift from Bill for Mother's Day is this handmade cradle for "little Bubs". He worked on it everyday during his planning period at school for about 5 months. It is the most prized "material" possession that I have.
Enjoying my lunch on a beautiful day with a beautiful girl!
Bill even managed to fix the girls hair AND put a bow in Lexi's hair. This alone is a sacrifice for him!
Next Mother's Day....we will be adding one more to the picture!
Bill and Luke even washed my car for me! Luke is cleaning out the inside for me!
Loving all my little "L's"
Next year I can hug all FOUR of my kids!
Loving some Mexican food on a beautiful evening!
The wishing well was a big attraction at dinner
Life doesn't get much better than FROYO on the curb!
No family picture is complete without the funny faces that Lexi makes! She sure makes us laugh!!
