Two year old tea party

It's hard to believe, but my baby Lexi is turning two in two days! We began the week-long celebration this morning with a princess tea party. Seven of her little two-year-old friends were invited (along with siblings and mommys). Many of the little girls wore party dresses or princess costumes. They got boas, bracelets, and crowns from Luke when they got here. The girls all started playing in the toy room and Lora says, " Mom, are we gonna DO anything or are the girls just going to make a mess of our house?" Classic. After about 45 minutes of "making a mess of our house", we had lunch and cake.

Lora loved her two year old party dress (made by mommy). When we took it off at bedtime she cried for her "birthday dress." Tears were rolling down her face, she was sobbing uncontrollably, and could hardly talk. She was so hysterical that we let her wear her "birthday dress" to bed after all.

Lexi can tell her that she is "TWO", but she's struggling a little with the fine motor task of holding up two fingers and not the other three....so she compromised by crossing two fingers. That's higher level anyway, right?!

Lexi wanted a princess party. Here is a picture of her cake: cake balls covered in fondant with a polly pocket stuck in top. Every little girl was on total sugar overload when they went home. But my girls napped REALLY well afterwards!

Lexi loves "Doya". She went crazy when she saw this balloon in our living room! She kept "talking" to Doya. "Doya, HI! Hi-five Doya. Whatcha doin? Doya smile. Hi Doya!"

We went ahead and gave Lexi her presents tonight (even though her birthday is in two days) because we have a really busy Wednesday night. Her favorite gift was her vacuum and she kept looking at the paper on the floor, saying, "mess", and then trying to vacuum it up!

My friend, Jessie, brought her little girl Layla to the party. Jessie is my personal photographer (**wink wink**) and she took a ton of professional pictures....to follow.
