Savannah - Part 2

Savannah Vacation - June 19-24
The second half of the vacation started with a lot of excitement. Lexi was having some trouble breathing and quickly began "grunting" to try to catch her breath. I called Nadia, who is a pediatrician, and had her look at Lexi. She held her a few minutes and said, "We need to take her to the emergency room." She looked at her a few seconds longer and calmly said, "How about we call 911. " YIKES! Good thing she was there to keep me calm! Strapped in the ambulance, sirens flashing, Lexi in my lap, strange city, Bill following in the car....seemed a little surreal! At the ER they did chest x-rays and suctioned about 20ml of junk from her nose and throat. She had pneumonia, an ear infection, and bronchiolitis. She took a steroid and amoxicillin and began round the clock breathing treatments. As you can see above, she got so familiar with her treatments that she began giving them to herself!
Fortunately....the next 4 days were some of the BEST days of my life! The rest of the vacation was amazing!

We got lots of pool and ocean time and the 9 kids soon all became best friends. Lora, Lexi, and Kendall (Jeremy and Christina's little
cutie!) even had matching swimsuits!

Lora and Taylor (Megan and Scott's girlie-girl) got along very well!!!

We enjoyed one day of a walking tour in downtown Savannah and one night of girlie talk to rejuvenate, reminisce, laugh, and cry.

The kids all had matching shirts! This made it easy to keep track of them!
So...logistics....
There were 18 adults and 9 kids. We shared two large houses across the alley from each other. Our house was very kid friendly with a large backyard, playground, hot tub, and big kitchen with lots of seating. The other house was beautiful with a pool, wrap around screened in porch on all three floors, an elevator, and an amazing view. We were within a 5 minute walk onto the beach. The neighborhood was adorable with a great running path (thanks Somer and Sunkel!) We took turns cooking with 2 families taking an evening meal each night. This meant each family only had to pay for one meal, cook one meal, clean up one meal, and come in early from the beach for one meal. However, EVERYONE helped out at all times and the idea of communal living is actually pretty enticing!
The big question is....we don't have to wait another 10 years, do we?!
