Wisconsin Whirlwind

Bill's cousin got married in Northern Wisconsin. Because most of his extended family was going to be there, and we seldom get to see them, we decided to make the trip to Wisconsin. It was a fantastic trip. However....I am not in the best state to travel, and therefore if I try to do something this crazy AGAIN when I am THIS pregnant, please tie me to a tree, gag me, and don't let me agree to it! On that note, we did have a lot of fun ;)

FRIDAY: I left from my mom's house (after helping after her double knee surgery) and Bill left from St. Louis at 4am on Friday. We met in Springfield at 6am for a 6:30 train to Chicago. We arrived in Chicago at 10:30, took a commuter train to Fox Lake, and met Bill's mom around 11:45. We got into her car and drove 5 hours north into Northern Wisconsin. We finally arrived at our hotel around 5:30pm (13.5 hours after the start of our trip). We changed quickly and drove another 20 minutes north to the rehearsal dinner.

Then we crashed...

SATURDAY: The wedding was held outside at the family winery. The scenery was beautiful and everything looked like it was out of a storybook...except for the rain and the 49 DEGREE WEATHER! When we left MO, it was 90 degrees! Needless to say, I was completely unprepared and we froze! However, the kids loved playing with all the cousins and I was able to turn my head when Lora's bleach white dress turned orange from doritos and Luke was covered in mud from playing hide and seek by the pond! The wedding was moved inside under the tent, but we "partied" from 3pm until 11pm!

Then we crashed...

SUNDAY: We got back in the car around 10am and drove back to Fox Lake area. We got on the commuter train to Union Station. We transferred back to the Amtrak train and rode that to Springfield. We arrived in Springfield at 10:30pm and drove almost 2 hours home (14.5 hours later).
Then we crashed...

I think I'm still crashing... ;)

Quote of the weekend: While getting on the train, Lora passed a very large, built, African American man. She looks at him, says, "You are wearing girl earrings, " and kept walking forward to our seats. Fortunately, he thought is was "cute".
