We had a fantastic Easter this year. We started preparing weeks ahead with our Easter egg decorating and resurrection eggs. We made bunny cupcakes, sent Easter cards, and attended a local Easter egg hunt. It just about broke my heart in two one morning when Luke said "Mommy, I understand what Easter is all about. It's about Jesus and that He died on the cross and is alive again." WOW! We attended an awesome Good Friday service at our church. It was definitely one of the most emotional for me. This is the first major holiday for me without my grandma. She always played a huge part in our Easter plans from sharing the Easter story, cooking the HUGE meal, hiding the baskets, and giving us WAY TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE! When our closing hymn was Chris Tomlin's Amazing Grace I cried so hard! That was the hymn that I played on the piano and my cousin sang during my grandma's funeral. It was also an emotional time for Bill as he continues to remember his dad and the holidays he misses with him.
After the Good Friday service I returned to my car with my cell phone blinking...four missed calls from my sister. I called back and she shouted "The eagle has landed! The eagle has landed!" This was our CODE for "I am engaged!" We drove to my parents on Saturday afternoon to admire the ENORMOUS ROCK that Jordan bought her (on a teacher's salary??!!) It is GORGEOUS!
We spent Saturday and Sunday at the Ufkes resort, playing basketball, riding four-wheelers, playing baseball/t-ball, and hunting for Easter baskets. We had an intense tournament of air hockey and some amazing food! We also spent plenty of time talking wedding!! Easter Sunday we attended another awesome service at my grandma's old country church (where I grew up). Easter dinner was also extra special because it's one of the last meals we'll have with my uncle, who is heading to Niger, Africa (permanently) as a missionary in a few short weeks.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
