Nine years ago we were "peacefully" enjoying a 4th of July when Luke decided it was time to make an entrance. My water broke shortly after coming home from the Hayes annual party. We drove to Missouri Baptist that evening and Luke arrived 12 hours later. He was the most beautiful, precious, thing I have ever laid eyes on. He threw us head-first into parenthood with his sleepless nights, evening colic, and the need to always be held. But over these past 9 years, he has learned independence and will now sleep in his own bed. He still occasionally sleep walks and sleep talks, reminding us of days past. He has a heart of gold and loves his friends and family so much. He has a true spirit and passion for anything he puts his mind to. We are both blessed and honored to be given the privilege to raise him into a young man.
No birthday is complete without a new lego set. This year he saved his birthday money for the CARS 3 set.
Luke and Bill test out his new light sabers.
Baseball cakepops were more appropriate than cupcakes for this bunch of hoolihans. For his birthday, Luke took 6 friends to a Gateway Grizzlie's baseball game. The boys had a great time and it was a beautiful night....but it was hard to manage 7 boys running around a baseball stadium (even if it was the minors!)
As "party favors" all the boys got a baseball and sharpie to gather autographs.
During a slight game delay, the opposing team was having people throw quarters in a cup that was about 6 feet away on the field. All the boys asked me for quarters and I told them it was a waste of money. No one ever wins games like that. Just as the words left my mouth I look down and the crowd is cheering for someone who had just tossed a quarter into a cup. It was my husband. I guess playing "quarters" in college really paid off....but it didn't help my lesson in "saving $$!" He won a baseball bat as his prize.
Even Lexi wanted to participate and got her ball autographed by the Gateway Grizzly mascot.
