Three big revelations
We were invited over to a friend's house for dinner this evening. I love last minute, spur of the moment, potluck dinners where each family brings a dish and we just hang out. Unfortunately Bill had class so I took the kids by myself. I volunteered to bring the salad. Around 5pm, I realized I didn't have enough lettuce for the 7 adults and 9 kids who would be there. REVELATION #1: I decided I would pay ANYONE just about ANY amount of money to buy me a bag of lettuce and deliver it to my house. Taking three children out in the cold and then into the grocery store that close to dinner time was not on my top 10 fave things to do. I was even contemplating driving to the Schnucks parking lot and giving someone $10 bucks to tag a bag of lettuce onto their grocery list and bring it back out to me. However, I decided against this option as well. Which led to REVELATION #2: I love going to Schnucks because they have the "new and expectant mother" parking spot. I LOVED this when I was pregnant. I decided tonight that I still fell under the "new" aspect of that spot. I then came to the conclusion that any mom with more kids than arms can park there. Once inside of Schnucks I grabbed my lettuce and explained to the kids for the 10th time why we were not buying candy bars in the checkout line. As I was leaving I hear "Hey". I stop, expecting to find that I had dropped something, the kids had stolen something, or I had forgotten my bag of lettuce. As I turn around, I hear the same voice say, "Heeeyyyy"....he was trying to get my attention and was hitting on me! He was also carrying out two bottles of tequilla. Which was my REVELATION #3: When a woman dragging three children and a bag of lettuce through the grocery store gets hit on by a man carrying 2 bottles of tequilla, you know you live in Jefferson County, MO.
