We started with the Christmas story in our bed. The kids had to wait until we went downstairs and "surveyed" the tree and gifts. Then they were released to come down the steps and check out the loot!
It was a year full of American Girl dolls, ski helmets, horseback riding helmets, rock band equipment, drum sets, doll house toys, and a Chewbacca buddy.
