BOGO sale

I love a good BOGO sale - buy one/get one sale. Last night, that's the phrase that kept going through my head as we admitted our SECOND child into Children's Hospital. I was hoping that if I plea bargained with admitting, they may give us a BOGO discount on our stay. I guess we did get the discount with the parking garage....pay for parking for one child, get to visit the second for free! (except we don't have to pay for parking!)
We have been battling the most wicked flu I have ever seen. Praise God (and keep praying!), my mom, Bill, and I have not caught it. It started over a week ago with Luke, ran its course through Lexi, and then hit Lora really hard. She couldn't keep anything, including pedialyte down. After two days of this, she was so lethargic that she wouldn't move off the couch. That, coupled with the stomach pains and decreased output, made me call the pediatrician's exchange and the nurse recommended I take her to the ER. We opted for Children's Hospital, given that we already have a rather large file there (and the free parking passes). Bill was already visiting Logan last night after his football game. I called to tell him to stay put, Lora and I would be there soon. After several hours of trying to get her to drink something and keep it down, the doctor finally gave her an IV drip for hydration and then sent us home with anti-nausea medicine. We got home at 5:30am. I don't think I've pulled an all- nighter since college.
Lexi is still on the mend and graced everyone in the Walmart line yesterday with a puking episode. Fortunately, yesterday we didn't travel far without the "blue bunny ice cream bucket", so there was no "clean up on aisle 5" needed. We checked out at Walmart with two bottles of pedialyte, a box of pedialyte popsicles, two boxes of keurig coffee, a box of medela milk bags, and a large bag of mini reeses....all while carrying our ice cream bucket. I'm guessing the checkout lady figured out the type of day we had.
My mom is running the infirmary at our house and I'm back on Logan duty. He is a rock star with his oxygen and has remained on room air for over two days now, with no dropping of his oxygen levels. He is consistently attempting every feed on the bottle, but only taking a full feed about 1/3 of the time. He is also consistently taking more during his day feeds versus his night feeds. Thank you Children's Hospital nursing staff for helping him figure out his nights and days!! It took us 5 years to get that with Luke! We need to continue to work on full feeds and then will begin working on "demand" instead of "scheduled" feeding. This means that if Logan wants to go 4 hours between feeds, we let him. If he wakes up and wants to eat after 2 hours, we let him. They have actually decreased the amount of milk he has to take because he is gaining weight so well. He is currently at 7 pounds, 8 ounces (birth weight of 6lbs, 6oz). We also continue to work on nursing when I am here during the day.
We don't have a date for "H" yet, but the doctors have begun contacting specialists to set up followup appointments. When we leave here, we will already have all our followup appointments scheduled, and boy, does Logan have quite the black book of business cards! The hospital (and the Down syndrome clinic) sets this all up for us, trying to put as many appointments as possible on one day.
Thank you for the continued prayers. Despite the chaos and lack of sleep, Bill and I sense immense peace, and even laughed quite a bit last night in the ER.
A friend sent this thought to me today, "The most beautiful pictures come from a black negative that has to sit in a darkroom for a while." Oh what beautiful picture our future holds.

**  Looking back, this was a great post to put on our caringbridge because I got lots of mini reeses in the mail over the next week!!!
