We had a movie night with several of the neighborhood kids over - popcorn, root beer floats, a kid-friendly movie (and our binky and blanket, of course!) made the night a success!

The kids LOVE helping Bill in his workshop. They can pick up two pieces of wood, spend hours nailing them together, turn them into a spendid creation, and pretend play with them all day.

Luke is playing Upward basketball again. He has gotten pretty good at defense and it's been fun to watch his dribbling and shooting skills improve.

Lora got a sewing machine for Christmas from Grandma Ufkes. We spent an entire day learning how to thread the machine, thread the bobbin, cut out a pattern, piece things together and sew a pair of pajama pants for her American Girl doll, Morgan.

Valentine's Day was spent with a special family dinner, a few gifts, and a game night. However, we celebrated for more than just one day. The kids had a Valentine's Party at their co-op group and were instructed to dress in a Valentine's "costume". Luke and Lora each won for their age group and got a small package of candy as a prize. Lexi just enjoyed licking the icing off all the cupcakes.

Lexi has turned into quite the independent 2 year old this month. Not only has she changed physically (note the two long braids and the disappearing toddler belly!) but she is also very vocal. Complete thoughts, sentences, and conversations come out of her mouth. She prays at dinner time (Dear God. Thank you for my cup. Thank you for my plate. Thank you for my fork. Etc. Amen.). She wears big girl underpants and goes on the potty. She loves to read and color. And she loves to HAVE HER WAY. This story describes Lexi's personality perfectly:

With the nicer weather, Lexi will do just about anything to convince us to let her go outside!
That cute smile definitely helps her case!

We celebrated Super Bowl Sunday at our church again this year. We were instructed to wear our favorite jersey. Yes, I know the Bears were not in the super bowl...but who can resist wearing a little orange and blue!
We attended the "Reptile Experience" with a homeschoole group. The "teacher" MADE me pet a snake and I thought I'd pass out. The kids LOVED that! In the pictures above, Luke is petting a tarantula and Lora is holding the head of an anaconda snake! What brave kids I have!

- We were at a restaurant and went to wash our hands. She put her hands under the faucet and it automatically turned on. "NO!" She screamed. "Lexi turn it on! Me turn it on!" She could not understand that it was AUTOMATIC! We opted for the hand sanitizer.
February was SUPER fun! I can't wait for the adventures in March!
