Future Weatherman

Luke participated in the homeschool "project fair" this year. He's been studying a unit on weather and working very dillegently on it for the past few months. He's gone outside 3-5 days per week and recorded all the weather facts : temperature, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, cloud type. He studied wind chill and humidity and evaporation. He discovered all about "bad" weather such as tornados and hurricanes. He even build a rain gauge, mini tornado, and sundial. One of his favorite things was making a list of all the songs that have to do with weather (how many can YOU name? "Blame it on the Rain", "Here comes the Sun"...his listed was more like: "It's raining, It's Pouring" and "Mr. Sun"!)
During the making and designing of the project (which I'm proud to say I let him DO HIMSELF - you will even see mispellings and crooked letters!) we had one, well two, minor incidents. My mom bought Luke the weather station which spurred the interest in weather. Around the second week of recording weather facts we left the station outside for the afternoon...only to find that Marty had used it as a chew toy! Our dog literally ate our science project! So, I jumped on Amazon, frantically searched for another one, had it rush shipped to the house. We received it a few days later, put it outside to gather the temperature, and within minutes, saw it in the middle of the yard...with Marty! With two chewed weather stations, we someone managed to piece them together to have one "usable" station. When asked about the weather station during the project fair, Luke felt compelled to share this story with other parents. I was slightly embarassed.
During the project fair there was a time for parents and family members to walk around and view the exhibits and ask questions. Then the students had a chance to view each others' projects. Luke's classic line of the night was, " Mom, I better stay right here by my project. What is someone comes over and has a question and needs me to answer it?" Gosh was he adorable!
THe night ended with each child walking on stage to receive a certificate of participation.
Future weatherman? Who knows? I know I would sure like to have a job where I get paid that much to be wrong 50% of the time ;)
